It's Here….

kemper
Guitar players rejoice! DBW Productions has added the extremely awesome Kemper Profiling Amp. What, you haven’t heard about the KPA??? It’s a rather new contender in the world of guitar amp modelers, except, it isn’t a modeler per sey. It actually samples or “profiles” real amps at the state they were in and allows you to use that sound later on. For example, let’s say we’re getting a great guitar sound using my uber cook VHT D60 amp going into a 2x12 cabinet and are miking it with a SM57 and a Royer R122 followed by a Neve 1272 mic pre. Let’s say you’d like to get that same exact sound at a later time on another day. Well, even if I write down all the settings used and take pictures of mic positions, etc. it’s next to impossible to get that same sound. Why? Because, amps don’t sound the same day in and day out, a tiny change in mic position can change the sound, the stars are out of alignment, etc. You get the idea. Well check this out: with the Kemper I can store the sound we’re getting in the Kemper and can then recall it and use it at a later date. Does it work? Absolutely! I’ve done many Kemper demos on my video page on the “tutorials” tab and be sure to check them out. In the meantime, check out this video where I go back and forth between my Fender Blues Deville and the Kemper version that I profiled and see if you can hear a difference.
